I follow 'Doodles Anonymus' which is a fantastic inspirational Blog that pings into my 'in-box' daily with new Artists/Designers - some I like & others I like less.  I just wanted to share this one with you - I absolutely love the quality of the drawn portraits & notice that Mica uses old 1940's/1950's photographs to inspire her drawings - what a great idea.  Please read the post below:

Professional illustrator Mica Angela Hendricks (aka busymockingbird) is really good at what she does, one of them being drawing retro, vintage heads. Recently, she's upped her game by collaborating with a special someone -- her 4 year old daughter.

It started innocently enough with her daughter sneaking in some lines and scribbles to create bodies for the faces.

"Not surprisingly, I LOVED what she drew. I had drawn a womans face, and she had turned her into a dinosaur-woman. It was beautiful, it was carefree, and for as much as I dont like to share, I LOVED what she had created. Flipping through my sketchbook, I found another doodle of a face I had not yet finished. She drew a body on it, too, and I was enthralled. It was such a beautiful combination of my style and hers. And she LOVED being a part of it. She never hesitated in her intent. She wasnt tentative. She was insistent and confident that she would of course improve any illustration I might have done. And the thing is, she DID."

Later, Mica would use her talents to go back and add colour, paint and details to bring the improvised collaboration to life. The results are jaw-dropping. I still can't get over how well their two talents mesh together. Read her original post that details the entire process and if you'd like, she's even put up a bunch of the final prints for sale at Society6.
